If you’ve lived in Michigan long enough, you know that no matter where you are, you’re only minutes from a body of water. We have so many lakes that there have been several attempts to create a master list.
When you think of going to the lake, does a beach always come to mind? Because that’s usually what I think about.
Have you ever imagined a beach that is not located right next to a shore? You’re probably like, “Erica, what the hell are you talking about now?”
How about if I told you that there is a man-made beach in Michigan and it’s right in the middle of a city?
Campus Martius Park in Detroit
You may know that in winter Campus Martius has an ice rink where you can go ice skating. Well in the summer they turn it into a beach and it’s the coolest little place.
It’s actually one of my favorite places to visit in the summer because it has a tropical vibe and makes you feel like you’re relaxing on an island somewhere.
What is a beach without alcoholic drinks and food? Better to find yourself a designated driver because Fountain Detroit drinks are no joke. They have a variety of drink choices. So choose your poison. Are you in the mood for a rum runner or fortified slushie? The choice is yours.
Of course, you have to put food in your belly if you drink. They have flatbreads, chicken wings, salads, burgers and more! Once you’re done drinking alcohol, sweat it out by visiting the new downtown Detroit skating rink!
