A new strategy published by UNESCO Biosphere Isle of Man will benefit the economy, the environment and the community.
âWorking together for a sustainable futureâ is published by the UNESCO Biosphere Stakeholder Partnership Group on the Isle of Man.
It defines the objectives and ambitions of the Biosphere under five Es:
It complements the overall objectives of UNESCO’s Man and the Biosphere Program: conservation, learning and sustainable development.
Geoffrey Boot MHK, Minister of Environment, Food and Agriculture, said: âThe global goals are something all biospheres are committed to.
âBut each of the 714 UNESCO Biosphere Reserves in the world is unique in terms of geography, ecosystems, cultures, etc., and has its own local opportunities and challenges.
âTherefore, biospheres are encouraged to develop their own complementary goals and ambitions as well.
âOur stakeholder policy group, which designed the strategy, represents the people of our community and the strategy will benefit all of us on the Isle of Man.
“We are all citizens of our biosphere and we hope that everyone on the island is inspired by the objectives of the strategy and wishes to contribute to them”.
