Sector chief marshal removed after ‘critical comments’

Association says it takes issue with new safety management system

A chief area marshal has been removed as a TT official following ‘critical comments’ he made on social media.

Race organizers said the anonymous individual’s position was ‘untenable’ when he refused to retract a statement he made online.

The TT Marshals Association held an emergency board meeting where the unanimous decision – to support ACU Events Ltd’s initial recommendation – to have him removed was taken.

In a statement today, the group said it had previously clashed with the race organization over a new safety management system that will come into effect at this event. year.

This, the group said, was “considered unacceptable” for any individual to undermine such a “critical initiative”.

The TTMA and ACUE, along with the Isle of Man Government, thanked the thousands of volunteers who give their time to keep motorsport events running on the island.

However, they add: “Any official, particularly one who accepts a leadership position within the race organization, is required to operate in accordance with protocols commensurate with the role and prestige of the event and to adhere to the ACU National Sporting Code with respect to officiating on the Mountain TT course.”
