The Manx government has announced the closure of Mountain Road for six weeks next March for reconstruction work.
Plans to rebuild the highway at Stella Maris in Ramsey and essential maintenance work were due to take place this summer.
The work has now been moved following consultation and feedback with the public.
Some work will take place this summer to enable resurfacing by a UK micro-asphalt contractor as part of a larger island-wide program.
Minister of Infrastructure Tim Baker MHK said: âAs previously emphasized, this work is necessary to allow next year’s TT to continue as well as for safe long-term use. Now that the consultation period is over, the team has been able to finalize their plans and revise the original proposal to reflect the concerns.
He added: âIt is essential that the ministry can consult informally on its plans and assess stakeholder concerns prior to the formal public consultation that takes place as part of the road closure request. In this case, the process took into account a wide range of views and led to this revised proposal which will better support both our economic recovery and the visitor sector. ‘
