Businesses, charities and local services are called upon to support the Armed Forces Convention.
The Manx government first signed the Pact in 2013, and since then we have become a Gold Award Employer.
The Armed Forces Pact is a statement of support for Island residents who serve, or have served, in the British Armed Forces. The objective of the Pact is to bring together support services for these service personnel and former soldiers.
Juan Watterson MHK, our Armed Forces Champion, is also calling for more local businesses, charities and services to register. He said, âThe Armed Forces Covenant is a commitment that together we recognize and understand that those who serve or who have served in the forces, and their families, must be treated with fairness and respect in communities, the economy and society they serve with their lives. “
âBeing a Gold Award Employer means we’ve been recognized for our advocacy work as well as being an exemplary employer for former military and reservists. We encourage all employers and groups to sign the pledge and see what they can do to eliminate any disadvantage for those in or leaving the armed forces.
Last week, the Isle of Man Freemasons became the most recent group to sign the Alliance.
