Kolby Allen Parker, 30, of DeLand, told investigators his grandfather Ronal Wells, Sr., 77, attacked him while the couple were smoking marijuana which may have been laced, a statement said. Press. He claimed Wells attacked him with a knife, but Parker then changed his story and said he was the one who grabbed a baseball bat, according to records.
MPs said Parker beat his grandfather with the bat, hitting him several times on the head, before grabbing a butcher’s knife and stabbing the victim in the “heart” and neck.
When asked why he did it, Parker said he wanted his grandfather to be with his late grandmother and that “it was his time to go,” according to the affidavit.
Investigators said Wells was dead on the porch when they arrived and as they spoke with Parker he pulled two human ears from his pocket, which belonged to the victim. He had an ear in each pocket and admitted to cutting them off, according to records.
Parker then turned violent and attacked MPs, the statement said.
He asked a deputy for his gun and when the deputy said no, he attacked another deputy, grabbing their Taser and weapon in an attempt to remove them, according to the affidavit.
MPs said Parker also kicked, punched and kept trying to pick up their guns as they tried to stop him. A Taser was used on Parker but it was not effective, according to the report.
MPs said they then executed a search warrant on the house, finding a bloody baseball bat and a large butcher’s knife also dripping with blood. A kitchen apron with the phrase “The Family Butcher” written on it and “plastic human bloody ears” attached was found in Parker’s bedroom, according to records.
Park is being held without bail and faces assault and battery charges against a law enforcement officer, resisting violence and second degree murder.
