Maine man steals car then rams his own truck with it

Pretty sure you can go ahead and file this one under “ things that make you go hmmm ”. Seriously, I’m almost shocked that this story doesn’t start off by saying something like “a man from Florida was arrested this weekend for …”, but no, it actually happened in Maine.

According to WABI TV 5,, Maine State Police responded to a call from Mars Hill on Saturday morning regarding an apparent vehicle theft. Although this is definitely not your “regular car theft”. Wait, is there regular car theft?

At around 9 a.m. on Saturday morning, a woman called police to report a man sitting in his truck outside his house on East Ridge Road. The man then got out and started running down the road before finally getting into the woman’s Jeep Grand Cherokee and taking off. He allegedly took the Jeep from the street and started ramming his own truck before pulling it back into the woman’s driveway. After parking the Jeep in the driveway, he took off on foot and started running back to his own truck.

Police arrived at the scene and the man was back in his own truck, although he refused to exit. Police broke a window to gain access to the non-compliant man. Tony Dubuc, 34, from Westfield was then taken into custody. He was charged with aggravated criminal mischief, among other things. He was already released on bail on condition that he was not allowed to drive a vehicle.
