Jeff Bezos is growing his already crazy real estate portfolio. The founder of Amazon and now second richest man in the world reportedly bought a multi-million dollar Hawaiian estate with partner Lauren Sánchez.
The secluded home is located on the island of Maui, specifically on the south shore of Valley Isle in La Perouse Bay, according to Pacific Business News. It is in a fairly isolated region with large dormant lava fields nearby. Although the exact selling price is not disclosed, the real estate sources say the closing price was $ 78 million. If correct, the purchase would be a record for the island, beating a beachfront home in Maui that sold $ 45 million this summer.
On the property, there is an approximately 4,500 square foot main house, a huge guesthouse, several other buildings and a 700 square foot swimming pool, according to Dirt. Dense landscaping adds privacy throughout the sprawling grounds.
Bezos isn’t the only billionaire who has a Hawaii getaway to get away from it all anytime. Others like Oprah and Mark Zuckerberg have acquired Hawaiian real estate, some like Larry Ellison owning almost an entire island. Bezos’ other properties can be found across the country, including a $ 165 million home at Beverly hills, several million dollar units in one Manhattan building, the largest private home in Washington DC, and more.
