Well, here’s something you don’t see every day. A horse going to bathe in a lake! Come to think of it, most dogs love to cool off in the ocean or lake on a hot day. This is where the dog paddle comes from! Why wouldn’t a horse appreciate a good dunk too?
Hercules the swimming horse is a bit of a legend in the waters of Lake Winnipesaukee. This video was taken in Wolfeboro and posted a few weeks ago. Watch it go! HERCULES! HERCULES! (this is a Nutty Professor referral but if you don’t get it I guess that’s fine)
The person who originally posted this video on the U local New Hampshire Facebook page didn’t because she thought it was valuable or cool. She has noticed what she believes to be saddle sores on the horse’s back and believes the horse is being abused. A LOT of people piled up and agreed that it was indeed saddle sores and the horse didn’t seem to be having fun. I certainly don’t know horses well enough to comment. Anyone who believes that this is a real case of abuse should report it to the appropriate authorities.
My only knowledge of horses comes from a movie called “Wild Hearts Cannot Be Broken”. This movie is called a DEEP CUT, it came out in 1991. I was three years old but I was completely obsessed with it. It was about this daredevil of a little girl who rode a horse while diving high. I know it was just a movie but the horses didn’t seem to care. If anyone wants to watch this cinematic treasure, I still have it on VHS. (Just kidding, I wish I could)
