The New Plymouth Classic Motorcycle Club will celebrate its 40th anniversary with a show and dinner later this month.

Originally, the club had planned to host the show in June 2020, but due to Covid-19 it has been postponed and will now take place on May 29 and 30 at Roller Sports Stadium, near East End Beach.

Club president Bruce Hine is expecting at least 115 motorcycles at the show, as well as an American Bantam car owned by club member Pat Steer.

The bikes will be an age ranging from a 1914 to 2020 Royal Enfield 1000cc Matchless Vee Twin and will include many major and minor brands, Hine said.

The anniversary dinner will follow Saturday’s show and will be held at the Plymouth International Hotel.

Hine and Hutton's bikes will be among at least 115 on display.

Peter Bennett will be MC for the night and Graeme Crosby, a former professional New Zealand Grand Prix motorcycle racer, is the guest speaker.

Crosby is the only person to have won the Daytona 200, Imola 200, Suzuka 8 Hours endurance race and Isle of Man TT. He was inducted into the New Zealand Sports Hall of Fame in 1995 and the Motorcycling New Zealand Hall of Fame in 2006, Hine said.

He said the shows would run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $ 10 per adult, $ 50 for seniors, $ 5 for 13 to 17 year olds and children under 13 are $ 4 or free if accompanied by an adult.
