Calendar of local events planned instead of TT 2021 – Energy FM

Mon, May 17, 2021

A series of local events are being held between May 22 and June 13 in lieu of what the 2021 Isle of Man TT races would have been like.

The list of events includes something for all ages and interests, ranging from large-scale sporting festivals to auto shows, beach rallies and family days.

Enterprise Minister Laurence Skelly MHK said: “ The decision to cancel this year’s TT races was a difficult one but was taken to bring clarity and certainty to racing fans and those involved. in the event. However, it has immediate impacts on the island’s travel and tourism activities.

In the absence of traditional events, and although travel to the island remains limited, community events provide a great stimulus by encouraging our residents to explore the island, visiting different towns and villages for events and special experiences, in turn increasing their national spending throughout. the Island.

To be viable in the long term, local businesses, including those in the visitor economy, need our custom. The visitor economy alone supports around 3,000 jobs and therefore by making an effort to support the local we can have a real and positive impact on both job retention and economic activity here on the Isle of Man ”.
