Older rotary racing motorcycles seemed to suffer from weak gearboxes because they weren’t tough enough and struggled to absorb the incredible power produced by the rotary engine under racing conditions. The CR700W promises to solve this problem by using a bespoke drivetrain system that uses a quick release cassette, hammer ring, and a larger, finished gear group that promises increased durability. Additionally, it comes with a slip clutch from Nova Transmissions and an intermediate gear that reverses the engine to help keep the front wheel on the ground when accelerating and cornering.

The bike comes with the option of premium Öhlins or Bitubo superbike spec shocks front and rear. A pair of Brembo Superbike monoblock brakes help riders confidently slow down the 220 hp monster.

The 285-pound CR700W’s 690 cc rotary engine produces 220 hp at 10500 rpm, which translates to 319 hp per liter and 0.77 hp / lb. For context, most 1000cc MotoGP motorcycles make around 300bhp, with a power-to-weight ratio of around 0.714bhp / lb.

The bike’s power-to-weight ratio is also better than that of the super-powerful 326bhp Kawasaki H2R, which is quite bulky despite its high power figures. This shows the weight reducing forces of the rotary engine as it produces massive amounts in a small package. The Crighton CR700W promises to provide an incredible driving experience.
